Les Dames d’Escoffier Greater Madison Chapter

Les Dames d’Escoffier International is one of a kind.

Les Dames d’Escoffier International

We are an international philanthropic organization of women leaders in the food, beverage and hospitality industries. Our 2400 members reflect the diversity in modern food and beverage production and foodservice. We support our communities through grants, scholarships and mentorship.

Our Greater Madison Chapter

It all began in 2018. A small group of Dames from other chapters moved to Wisconsin and took the initiative to found Wisconsin’s very first LDEI chapter. Madison is our hub, but our members come from far and wide. We are women who represent the backbone of what makes the Wisconsin food and beverage scene so special and exceptionally different. Our members are independent entrepreneurs working to design, build, create, grow and innovate ways to supply and serve people who are hungry for fresh choices, culinary excitement and inspirational offerings.

Behind the Name

Les Dames d’Escoffier is named after Auguste Escoffier, the most innovative chef in history whose philosophy and accomplishments still inspire culinary professionals today. As a legendary French chef, cookbook author and culinary innovator, he is credited for establishing modern-day restaurant operations and elevating the art and practice of cooking.

The organization was founded in 1976 by Dame Carol Brock, veteran food writer and former food editor of the New York Daily News. Today, LDEI is composed of 44 chapters and 2,600 members in the United States, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, France and Italy.
